Our Mission

Our mission is not only to rescue and rehome rabbits in Bendigo & Victoria looking for a loving home but to also be a voice for these companion animals. We aim to educate the public on rabbit care, housing, diet requirements, ownership, and the importance of desexing in an effort to decrease the escalating overpopulation problem of rabbits and consequent abandoning of these defenseless creatures.

Our procedures

Kelly's Rabbit Warren Rescue Inc. is a community foster care network. All our rabbits are in foster care at various locations in Bendigo. We do not operate a shelter.

Each rabbit in our care is very special to us, and their welfare is of the utmost importance.

Our adoption procedures are thorough because we aim to match our rabbits with the right adopter and place them in their forever home.

Different rabbits have different requirements, and we carefully assess the personality, temperament, and requirements of each individual rabbit.

We do not simply rehome our rabbits to the first person who applies. Rather, we place our rabbits in the home that is most suitable for them. Our rabbits remain in foster care until their suitable home is found, however long that takes.

When you contact us about adopting, we will email you an application form. If you are considered an appropriate applicant, one of our team members will telephone you to talk further.

Throughout this process, we also contact the foster careers for comments. If a rabbit appears a good match for you, we will arrange a no obligation 'meet and greet'.

A complete property check is then required to ensure the housing is safe and secure for the rabbit/rabbits in care.

Yes, some may have purchased rabbits from pet shops & some have great homes, some have been given good advice but trust us, when we say you are in the minority.
